On Friday, December 4, 5-7:30pm, Arts Fest Fridays – a co-presentation of Saratoga Arts Fest and Spring Street Gallery — presents “Holidays at Home Made Theater,” a free, multi-genre, multi-generational arts and performance event at the Spa Little Theater in Saratoga Spa State Park.
Inspired by Home Made Theater’s winter production of “Miracle on 34th Street,” this family-friendly evening will include behind-the-scenes theater tours, a wishes-for-the-world letter-writing campaign, dress-up and other activities for kids, and a mini-movie-theater highlighting the original “Miracle on 34th Street” film. There will also be an outdoor gathering area with food and hot drinks, and the Salvation Army will attend with their traditional Red Kettle. Activities will all be reminiscent of a New York City streetscape in 1947, the year the classic film was made.
Upstairs in the Spa Little Theater balcony, a 1940s-inspired lounge will ring with jazz standards provided by The Useless Cans, a trio of accomplished Capital Region jazz musicians including Dylan Perrilo on Bass, Bobby Davis on Guitar and Julia Posin on Vocals. Libations by event sponsors, local brewery Druthers and Springbrook Distillery.
“Holidays at Home Made Theater” marks the finale of the four free, multi-genre, multi-generational Arts Fest Friday events in 2015.
“Our audience has really enjoyed the range of entertainment and offerings at Arts Fest Fridays,” said Dee Sarno, President of Saratoga Arts Fest Board of Directors. “Each event has been very special and excitingly different, and attendance has been beyond our expectations.” Past Arts Fest Fridays have included the Vintage Beekman Street Fest in September, “UPH Goes Avant Garde” in October, and “A Vaudeville Circus at the Tang Museum” in November.
